I think you might have picked this book up at ALA? I had read it prior, so it was cool that we got to meet the author, Rakesh Satyal. In his novel, No One Can Pronounce My Name, we are introduced to several characters whose lives intertwine, including a gay Indian man who dresses up in drag as his dead sister to comfort his grieving mother. He winds up becoming friends with another South Asian woman whom he looks to for maternal comfort and companionship.
It’s not a quick read, and not much really happens, but I found it to be a good character study and of course, loved that it showcased these characters of colour and diversity!
Hope you enjoy it!
