I have to admit that it was the title and the book cover that drew me to this. It was okay. It wasn’t a terrific read, but it wasn’t terrible.
The story revolves around a London woman of South Asian descent who winds up in a job teaching creative writing / storytelling to Punjabi widows. Through this, she reconnects with her community and the widows rediscover their sexuality.
I just found that there was a LOT going on in this book, from romance to a murder mystery to cultural drama to eroticism.
In the end, it was a bit too muddled for me to really enjoy and I found myself skipping parts that didn’t interest me, just so I could reach the end.
